Questions to D & E - Natalie Michelich
- D. Locate and list two examples of educational
blogs that are created by teachers, schools or educational organizations
for teachers, students or parents. What is the purpose of
each, and why did you choose these?
- Edutopia by the George Lucas Educational Foundation: I
found this blog and I like that it has different writers, from teachers
to professors. As a general education blog, the idea of having multiple
educators be able to publish their thoughts and experiences is a great
place for people to learn more about the education field. However, this
blog does seem broad and not specific to grade or subjects.
- Kathy Schrock's Guide to Everything: This blog still
seems broad, however, it is all posted from one author - Kathy. Within
her blog, the topics and posts are neatly organized. She also has an
emphasis on technology in the classroom, which is great for modern
teachers to keep up with.
- E. How could you use blogging in teaching? I never thought of teachers being bloggers before.
Thinking more about it though, it makes sense. For an experienced teacher,
blogging could be a way to mentor new teachers world wide. Teachers could
also use a blog for their students to work in. Whether it is composing a
class blog, or simply a website for students to follow. I think having a
personalized classroom blog could benefit students. There could be
resources for assignments as well as everyday life. Blogging for parents
could be another form of educational blogging. Having a classroom blog for
your parents to have a better look at curriculum and the classroom's day
to day life could be helpful.
